Obituary of Hermonie Sharpe
Beloved Columnist of the Shawville Equity
Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 95 years of age. She was predeceased by husband Manson Sharpe, son Clifford, adopted daughter Tammy, daughter-in-law Joanne (Harvey) and grandson Jeremy. She leaves behind her children Neil (Margaret), Bobby (Linda), Ruth, Connie (Jim Hunter), Donnie (Mary), Susan Wilson, Gerry & Peter (Jacqueline). She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Kim (Murray Mako), Tom (Sarah), Cory, Shayne Gordon, Christine (Chad Parsons), Natasha (Sean MacDonald), James McGee Jr., Scott (Shari), Stephanie (Jason Howe), Craig Wilson, Shawn Wilson (Katherine), Nathan (Ashlee), Stacey and Sheldon, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Hermonie was the postmistress at Caldwell for 20 years. Following her retirement she wrote a weekly column in the Shawville Equity for 61 years. Subscribers near and far looked forward to reading her weekly column. Hermonie kept her readers abreast with all the local news. We were reminded of her priorities family and supporting community. She wore her Bristol Blue on her sleeve and in her heart. In addition to writing her weekly column, she found time to enjoy her favourite pastime-euchre six nights a week.
In 2002, she received the Queens Medal of Honour for her service to the community. Hermonie will be missed but not forgotten. She will be remembered for her wit, sense of humour, courage and resourcefulness.
Special thanks to the nursing staff and volunteers at Shawville Hospital, as well as the staff of the Dialysis Unit at the Hull hospital and Transportaction which got her safely there, several times each week.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Funeral service will follow in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Donations to Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation- Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.
