Obituary of Margaret Bretzlaff
MARGARET EVA BRETZLAFF (nee JUDD)
August 17, 1917 - August 3, 2013
Margaret passed away peacefully in her 96th year on August 3, 2013 at Pontiac Community Hospital in Shawville, Quebec. She was the beloved wife of the late Earl Bretzlaff; dearly-loved mother of Robert of Shawville, and Jane and her husband Patrick Kierans of Toronto; cherished Nana of Patricia Margaret and Catherine Emily and the dear sister-in-law of Isabel Judd. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Robert Judd and Elizabeth Metcalf, as well as her sister and dearest friend Emily Burritt, and brother Dr. Wilson Judd. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were all very special to her. Margaret was devoted to education for over forty years, from a one-room schoolhouse in Thorne, Quebec to Dr. S. E. McDowell Elementary School in Shawville as Vice-Principal and Assistant Director-General for the Protestant School Board of Western Quebec. Throughout this time, Margarets gentle touch and caring influence were felt by four generations of Pontiac County residents. Margaret was known for her kindness; her interests included farming, her Church, gardening, family history projects and, most especially her children and grand-daughters. Special thanks for their extraordinary care to Dr. John Wootton, Pat Willis and the nurses and medical staff of the Pontiac Community Hospital. Margarets funeral service will be at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Shawville, on Wednesday, August 7, at 2 pm. For those who wish, donations to St. Stephens Anglican Church, Greermount or the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
