Obituary of Ann Marie Barber RN (nee Dean)
Peacefully at home on January 8, 2023 at the age of 74 after a private battle with cancer. Loving wife of Wilmer, mom of Jennifer and Stephanie (Chris Rogers) and Nan of Luke, Colton, and William. Daughter of the late Ernie and Sadie Dean and sister of the late Arthur Dean.
Ann Marie was born and raised in Shawville, Quebec. She maintained close ties with family and friends in the Shawville community throughout her life, including cottaging for many years on Don Lake.
Ann Marie moved to Ottawa in 1965 to join the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing (Class of ‘68). She completed more than 40 years of service as a Registered Nurse at the Civic Hospital, primarily in the Ottawa Heart Institute, building lifelong bonds and friendships with classmates and colleagues.
Ann Marie was a cherished and loving wife, mother and grandmother (Nan) who cared deeply for her family and friends. She was an enduring caregiver who gave so much more than she ever asked for in return. Her legacy of love, care, and friendship will live on in all those who knew her.
Ann Marie’s life will be celebrated at Kitchissippi United Church on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 1:15 pm. Kitchissippi United Church - 630 Island Park Dr, Ottawa, ON K1Y 0B7
