Obituary of Edward "Tedd" Robinson
On Saturday August 27th 2022, Tedd Robinson, born Edward Allen Buels Robinson, passed on peacefully in his sleep. Unique, eccentric, beautiful and loved, his youthful curiosity and thoughtful wisdom will forever resonate with all those whose lives he touched. The impact of his life’s work will continue to be seen and felt in the dance community and in the joyful play of his grandchildren.
Born on September 26th 1952 in Ottawa, Tedd spent his early years in Manotick with his parents and sisters. He worked in his father's Nepean grocery store through high school and upon graduating, attended business school at his father's request. He lasted a day. His passion at that time was music and so he enrolled in the music program at York University. This is where he found dance and switched majors within a year. His career in dance is well documented and a beautiful and concise bio can be found at https://www.tengatesdancing.ca/about.htm.
Predeceased by parents Ken and Gladie Robinson, brother-in-law Ron Arends (Marilou) and canine companion Stella, Tedd leaves behind daughter Rebecca Robinson (Josh), grandchildren Bennett and Emmeline, grandmother to his grandchildren D-Anne Kuby, sisters Linda Robinson, Lauri Fisher (Wayne) and Marilou Arends, many nieces and nephews, extended family and the members of the dance community that chose him as their family.
Rebecca would be very grateful if you could honour her dad by balancing an object on your head for a moment of remembrance. If you feel comfortable doing so, take a picture and post it to Tedd’s Facebook page or tag it with the hashtag #TeddRobinson so we can all share in some laughter through tears together.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the arts organization of your choice.
Memorial service to be held at a later date.
