Obituary of Wendy Lyn Hodgins
Passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 with loved ones by her side at the Maycourt Hospice in Ottawa, Ontario. Wendy was the beloved and devoted daughter of Joyce Hodgins (nee Telford) and the late Clayton (2018), born in Shawville, Quebec on March 25, 1961. She attended McDowell Elementary and PPHS before moving on and achieving her Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University & Bachelor of Education from Queens University, where she created and retained many friendships along the way. These friendships, as well as workplace friends, lifted her spirits via online correspondence, helping her navigate the difficulties of COVID restrictions during her final hospital stay.
Wendy was an accomplished world traveller, where she made lifelong friends. A lover of animals, Wendy enjoyed the company of her faithful companion, a golden retriever named Annie, for thirteen years. In her early years, Wendy was a member of the square dance kids of Mel Kehoe and Murial Imison where they danced for the centennial.
A family historian, she valued her family and will be greatly missed by her Aunt Diane Derkatch-Mercer (late Rev. George Derkatch & late Bill Mercer), Uncle Barry Telford (Dorothy Telford), cousins Sandra, Gail, Brent, Neil, Ann, Helen and Jamie. Predeceased by grandparents James and Madella Telford, grandparents Elliott and Sarah Hodgins, Hodgins Aunts Hazel, Arlene, and Elsie and her cousin Garry. A special thank you to Wendy's wonderful friend and cousin, Ann, whose loyalty and care to Wendy over the last year never faltered.
