Chère Madame Annette et la famille Larivière,
C'est avec beaucoup de tristesse que je ne puisse pas être des vôtres aujourd'hui, le 3 décembre 2018 pour les funérailles. Malgré la distance qui nous sépare, je suis avec vous tous en pensées et prières.
Je conserve de très heureux souvenirs avec M. Larivière en compagnie de mon père et de ma mère....et aussi un week-end en particulier: Colleen et moi avec nos papas respectifs lors d'une sortie de pèche....On leur avait préparé tout un lunch gastronomique: Kraft Dinner et saucisses!!!!! Et que dire de sa chanson qu'il interprèta avec grande joie en compagnie de ses proches; famille et amis: "Bonhomme, bonhomme sais-tu jouer".....Merci à vous, M. Larivière, pour ces bons moments avec votre beau sourire franc et communicatif!

In his passing, I would like to pay tribute to the family of the late Jean-Guy Lariviere, that it be known to all that Jean-Guy was the single most important catalyst to see that the R.A. Centre was built in Campbell's Bay. Shortly after becoming an M.P., he summonsed me to his office, discussed a potential R.A. Centre, offered financial assistance, and the project was launched. Without his insistence, commitment, drive, dedication and love for his Municipality, this project quite likely would never have been realized. Merci Jean-Guy.

Jean-Guy Larivière: His characteristic warm smile and gentle manner are fondly remembered. A family man, Jean-Guy was also equally at home at the National Assembly as at Edmond O’Malley’s camp. His lifetime allegiance to the Liberal Party led him to join the ranks of outstanding citizens who have taken on the challenge of representing their communities in houses of parliament in democratic nations around the world. Toutes nos condoléances pour le décès d’oncle Jean-Guy.
C’est avec une grande tristesse que nous avons appris par oncle Gaston le décès de Jean-Guy, pour qui nous gardons et garderons de très bons souvenirs. J’ai en tête le souvenir d’un bon vivant, généreux et aimant. Nous savons que cela est une perte et une peine difficile à surmonter, mais qui nous forge et nous rend plus résiliant.
Malheureusement, moi et ma conjointe Jacinthe sommes actuellement en Floride et nous ne pourrons assister avec grand regret aux obsèques de Jean-Guy.

When I heard the news that Jean Guy was gone it hit me really hard. I know that I have not seen him in years, but all the fond memories of him and Annette playing cards with my mom and dad came flooding back. What a great life lived and what a great leader Jean-Guy was for the Pontiac and his family! I’m so glad I got to know him, and to appreciate his easy smile and friendly demeanour. My wife Vicki and I were looking for a cottage for 2 years. We happened to drive down a dirt road off 301 and the first cottage I saw with cars, we stopped and knocked on the door! I asked this gentleman, who happened to be Jean-Guy, if he knew of anyone selling land on the lake or a cottage. He not only proceeded to spend a couple of hours driving us around, giving us the history of the area and making us feel welcomed, he even invited us for supper. He was kind, generous and very friendly. We wound up buying and building on the lake and have been there since. We’ve become friends with his great family! He was the epitomy of a gentleman!!
