Obituary of Dale Thomson
Dale Thomson was born October 14, 1927 in Shawville, QC and passed away at the Pontiac Community Hospital in Shawville, QC on Monday, September 24, 2018. Husband of the late Merle (Armstrong). Long time loving companion of Hazel Kelley. Father of Sharon (Germain) Brian (Susan) and Paul (Sylvie). Grandfather of Chris (Emily), Natalie (Oliver), Stacey, Sean (Adrijana), Tony (Christina), Dave (Kelsey), Corey and Shannon (Deanna). Great Grandfather of Alanah, Sara, Domenic, Paisley, Zoe, Zak, Elise and Presley. Predeceased by brother William Thomson (Grace) and sister Janice Lemay (Dave), brother-in-law Bill Armstrong (Gladys), Lennis Armstrong (Lillian) and sister-in-law Eileen Armstrong. Also predeceased by cousin Merwood Dale (Grace). Special Uncle to Bill (Cheryl), Bree and Brent. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dale spent 35 years working at Fraser’s store on the Main Street in Shawville. He was an active part of the community, a founding member of the Shawville Lions Club (Lifetime Charter Member). During his time as a Lion’s Club Member they did many wonderful things for the community including repairing homes for the elderly, starting the Canada Day Celebrations and building Mill Dam Park. He started on the Pontiac Reception Centre project in 1959 and it finally became a reality in 1977 when they first broke ground. He was a founding member of the Bertrand Lake fish camp and a lifetime member of the Laviolette Fish camp. Dale will be fondly remembered by all of those who knew him. The family wishes to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Pontiac Community Hospital for the wonderful care Dale received.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Center Street, Shawville, Quebec on Friday September 28, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Shawville United Church on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery, Shawville. Donations to Pontiac Reception Centre Foundation would be appreciated.
