Obituary of Edith Elliott
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith Elliott, born Susan Edith Hanna, daughter of Cora and Ira Hanna. Much loved wife of the late Russell Elliott. Mother of Carol (Bob Dickson), Stephen (Dawn Matthews), Phillip (Nancy Dagenais) and Christina. Cherished Granny to Greg (Amanda), Derek, Hilary (Joel), Jeff (Melissa), Kathryn, Sarah and Samuel. Great Granny to Leah, Evan, Jackson, Lydia, Ellie, Mila and Eva. Predeceased by her siblings William Hanna (Doris), Dora Hutchin (Ken), Hildred Stewart (Mervyn) and Mary Wall (Milton). Born and raised in Radford, Edith’s heart was swept away by Russell at a very young age. Married in 1950 at the age of 20, Edith and Russell settled on the family farm just outside of Stark’s Corners. The perfect farm wife, Edith knew her way around the kitchen whether it was preparing a meal for a crew of corn cutters, a simple lunch for Russell and Phillip or baking cookies or a butterscotch pie for the family. Several stories were told at her kitchen table as well as many a card game. Edith and Russell loved the Saturday Bryson dances and the Euchre parties at the Starks’ Corners Hall, Portage du Fort and Bristol. Her church community, her neighbours and her family meant the world to Edith. A woman of wisdom, few words and a beautiful smile will live on in our memories forever. The past few years Edith and Russell found a wonderful home in Campbell’s Bay, surrounded by love, laughter and wonderful meals.
