Obituary of Jean Smith

Born November 20, 1935, age 82 and living in Shawville, Quebec died Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Pontiac Community Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer.  Survived by husband Versil Smith, recently having celebrated their 58^th wedding anniversary; two sons, Colin and spouse Francine Miller and daughter Jennifer; Grant and spouse Maureen Coulas and two sons Patrick and David; brothers and sisters Elwyn (Ted), Barbara Ann, Elson and Marie.  Jean was very active in the community with the Shawville United Church, Pontiac Archives and was a Charter Member of Shawville Lionettes. She loved camping with Versil and their many friends with their travel trailer and cottaging at Jim’s Lake. Jean truly enjoyed the Christmas season and was able to spend Christmas with family at home.  Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.  Funeral will follow in Shawville United Church at 11 a.m.  A Lionettes Memorial Service will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m.  Donations to the Shawville United Church or other charity of your choice would be appreciated.
