Obituary of Carmen Lloyd Wickens
Carmen passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in hospital, Shawville, Quebec at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband and best friend for 63 years of Margaret Stewart. Loving father of Wendy (Michael Hortie), Sandra (Steve Lloyd) and Tim (Tracey Bell). Special grandfather of Tyler (Heather), Lauren (Sonya), Jared (Tiffany), Rebecca (Dave), Emily (David), Brandon (Amber), Alex, May and Charlie and great-grandfather of Emma, Evan, Preston, Mila and Lee. Survived by sister Peggy (Clifton Thomas), brother-in-law Revel Stewart (late Karen) and sister-in-law Irene (late Mervin Stewart). Predeceased by his parents John Wickens and Lila Maitland as well as brothers and sisters Melvin (late Judy), Herbert, Roley (late Revella), Keith (Marie), Douglas (late Laura), Ted (late Roberta), Lottie (late Archie Horner), Fern (late Clifford Strutt), Lillian (late Veldon Laurie), Helen (Walter Smith), Dorothy and Ruth.
Carmen farmed in the area for over 50 years before he and Margaret moved to town. He was a very active community member and volunteer. Carmen served on the Clarendon Council for 12 years before becoming mayor for 2 years. He was a member of the Cream Co-Operative, Shawville and Austin United Churches, Pontiac Medical Co-operative, Pontiac Reception Centre Foundation and was a Mason and a Shriner.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral to Shawville United Church on Tuesday, September 5 for service at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment Austin Cemetery. Donations to the Pontiac Reception Centre Foundation, Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation or the Austin Cemetery would be appreciated.
