My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Holmes and Phillip. Mr. Holmes was one of my favorite teachers and an amazing coach. I remember the year I won a badminton tournament in petawawa...he was my coach, and he helped me win. I was losing a game, and running out of energy. Mr. Holmes could see that, and he came over to the corner of the court so I could see him. He did not say anything, He stood there and watched me...i could feel his presence, energy, support and encouragement. He knew what I needed, and he was there. I went onto win the tournament, all thanks to a great man that i did not want to let down, and a great man that i respected deeply. Thank you Mr. Holmes for everything you taught me. Rest in peace.

He was my gym, drama and agriculture teacher, a man of many talents. Homer was one of the few teachers I've had in my life that made an impact, a REAL impact. I still tell stories about him letting me sneak into his boys gym class to play with them. He even wrote my name on the school crutches because I was so clumbsy. David is one of those special forces in my life who changed my life profoundly. David had many wonderful qualities and one of his best was the ability to make people believe in themselves. David was first an amazing teacher to me, then an instigator in my ability to find myself as a coach, then as a colleague when we worked together on many different fronts. I always enjoyed my time working with David - our bantering and his challenges always made me smile. David made me a much better person. I know that I am one of literally hundreds that can say that. Mr. Holmes, you did so many amazing deeds and helped many people find their voices, for that I am forever grateful. You will surely be missed and this planet will be a very different place because you are gone. My deepest condolences to the entire Holmes family.

Even though you were 3 1/2 years younger than me, I always looked up to you literally and figuratively.
