I cannot type enough or ever say enough about just how much Bryan Murray impacted me as a person. I was very fortunate to know Bryan and his whole family for so very long. Bryan became a mentor to me in my coaching but also in life - Bryan was a true role model in what it is like to be a human, to be a person. I held Bryan in the highest regard and am so lucky to have SO many wonderful memories to make me smile as I think about him. Bryan and his entire family have always been such magnificent people. Bryan, you will be missed by me and by the thousands upon thousands of people that your advice, humour, sincerity, sarcasm, leadership, and love has touched. With much love

Geri, Heide and Brittany and families,
My name is Marianna Kindrachuk (was Strumm) when Bryan came to Regina. He coached our team to tremendous success and we knew then, that he was going to the top.
Bryan so touched our lives for just the one year, so much so, that when our son was born several years after Bryan left, we knew we had to name him after Bryan. My son is Robert Bryan Murray Strumm, who ironically works for the Senators as of last winter. Bryan was Bobby's Godfather.
Geri, please know how saddened we are of Bryan's passing, but he certainly fought a hard battle - to the end. We are so grateful to have known him - the many suppers he had at our home, especially on Monday night football is forever entrenched in my memories.
Bobby plans on attending the celebration of life............I know how much it means for him to be there.
Regards, Marianna

Sincere sympathy to Geri, Heide, Brittany, Bryan's family and friends
I have enjoyed reading so many beautiful tributes for Bryan. He has been a dear friend since school, Teachers College, going to see games and just meeting him in Shawville. I have always been a Bryan Murray fan no matter which team he was associated with. If I called or e-mailed Bryan he kindly put our names on a list and we could go and meet players and speak with him. One night at a game I was cheering for Florida. After the game a man tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Lady, please tell me why you cheer for Florida". I told him that I cheer for Bryan Murray!. I have a scrap book of many photos and clippings. I was always so proud of Bryan and to be from Shawville, Bryan Murray's town. Bryan was always so humble and genuine. At our HS Reunion he did not stand up and brag about his success. He turned to two of his HS teachers and thanked them for encouraging him to attend Teachers College and play sports. He said he might never have been able to do what he did without their encouragement and the skills that he learned. Bryan said that thanks to them he enjoyed a wonderful life in the hockey world. May all of the wonderful memories you all hold help to sustain you as you mourn but celebrate a special man who influenced so many. RIP dear friend until we meet again. When a star twinkles we will remember the twinkle in your eye.

Dear Geri & Family:
The days to come are going to be tough ones but then again the really tough ones are behind
you & the wonderful fun filled ones have just begun ( the " remember whens").
Memories of You and Bryan for Les go back quite a way; for Rossie, they go back 49+ years when
Les' little package of three; seven year old Tim, seven year old niece Christine & myself came to
Shawville. If I remember correctly you were not much more than newly weds too
..
You asked if you could take Tim & Chris to swimming lessons at Green Lake & a picnics where ever
you chose to go after the swimming lesson (don't even think about the lunch, you would just tuck in
a couple extra bananas). I think those little excursions remained in their special memory boxes for
a long time (Chris still teases Uncle Les about his package deal for the summer of 1968).
In the days to come, you will have your own special memories , we are sure there are are lots & they
will be quite entertaining.
Cherish your memories
Love & special blessings

I had season-tickets with the Vancouver Canucks for 29 years (1970-1999) and was always down at the visitors bench during the pre-game warm-up talking to the trainers. Not many of the NHL Coaches came out for warm-up but Mr Murray always did. He would come out just prior to the teams and have a little chat with the fans, and I was one of those fans he would chat to. Coaching Washington, Detroit & Florida, Mr Murray recognized me every single time he was in Vancouver and would shake my hand and we would have a little "Hockey Chat".
Mr Murray was Genuine, Kind but above all else, A True Gentleman.

On November 14, 2014 Bryan Murray saved my husband’s life.
I was in Sault Ste. Marie on business in my hotel room. For probably the 3rd time in my life I turned on Canada AM. I can honestly say I had never heard Mr. Murray’s name before that day and couldn’t name a single NHL GM. But what Mr. Murray said that day saved another person.
His TSN interview of the night before was featured on Canada AM – it resonated with me…. particularly his regret of not having a colonoscopy sooner. For some time I had been reminding (truth: nagging) my husband Richard to have a routine colonoscopy, to no avail. Hearing Mr. Murray’s interview gave me new resolve and by lucky happenstance Richard’s annual physical was already scheduled for the next week. This time he did request the test and it was scheduled for December 1, 2014.
That was the day Richard was diagnosed with Colon Cancer.
Subsequently we learned it was caught at Stage 1 – he had surgery followed by a course of chemotherapy for insurance. His scans and other tests are fine as he approaches the third anniversary of his diagnosis.
I am absolutely certain had I not heard that interview - that day - we would have drifted on for a few more years and that our circumstances would be very different right now.
In the immediate aftermath of the diagnosis and surgery I spoke to Mr. Murray’s helpful assistant at the Senators’ office to get his address to send a thank you card; which I never mailed. I deeply regret not sending that card – in the flurry of treatment it got missed. So, I will express our thanks to you – his family and loved ones – for his fine act that day to raise awareness. We live with that gift every day.
Please accept our condolences for your loss.

Bryan was true and pleasant man. I am an NHL Off-ice Official during Sena tors games since the beginning. Bryan always had a second to ask how I was or said hello in passing. I had a great admiration for him since I am a country boy also and was taught to respect others.
I remember doing a game as Linesman in my early day of Refereeing with Coach Murray behind the bench in Pembroke. It was forever etched in my memory.
Anytime I was in Binghamton, Florida, Boston he always had time for short visit.
From working games in Penalty Box , Goal Judge and watching players work so hard for him was unreal.
Bryan Murray to me was one of the finest men in hockey or anywhere that I have ever met.
He will be forever remembered in so many ways that it becomes a celebration of life well lived.

Brian was a very wonderful man, I'm originally from shawville my deepest sympathies to goes out to his wife his two daughters and the Murray family
One shawville fair my husband wore a jersey of the Ottawa Senators, we are lucky enough to meet up with Brian, my husband has a picture of him and Brian, he was also nice to send my husband a beautiful letter with a set of coasters from the Ottawa Senators tell my husband is not an Ottawa Senators fan, he's a Detroit redwings fan Brian did not care they talks hockey which made my husband happy. So Brian you will be remembered very much for hockey but as well for such a kind humble soul you are. It didn't matter if you knew someone or not you made them feel comfortable rest well you will be missed

My sincerest sympathy to Bryan's family as well as his hockey family. Although I never met Bryan,I followed him through his run with the Ottawa Senators and was impressed by him both in the hockey world and out of it. His decision to report on his battle with cancer as a measure to help the fight cancer against cancer is most admirable. May he rest in peace.

Bryan was one hell of a man. He made people around him better. He meant what he said and he said what he meant. Loved his family, his town, his team, his players the NHL and all the hockey people in it. He was exactly what he appeared to be. He was genuine. A man who was tough and extremely compassionate at the same time. You are never taller than when you kneel to help a child and he helped many. You live a life fulfilled when you help a boy become a man and he helped many. You are a gift when you treat others the way you'd wish to be treated and Bryan was a gift.
Deep condolences to Geri, the girls and the entire family. Bryan was one of a kind.
