Obituary of William Presley
After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Thomas William Presley, known as “Bill” or “Billy” to family and friends, passed away on January 28, 2017 at Wakefield Memorial Hospital at the age of 72, with his beloved wife Gayle (nee Monette) by his side. A devoted Dad and loving Grandfather, he leaves behind daughters Kim Presley (Dan Ladouceur) and Jenn Andrews (Scott) and grandchildren Quinn Ladouceur and Zoe Andrews.
Predeceased by his parents Gladys Stowell and Bennett Presley, uncles Guy, Will, Carl, Woodrow Presley and Earl Phair and aunts Grace Phair, Pearl and Greta, brother-in-law Lee Monette and cousin Hope Presley Frederick.
Bill had a number of accomplishments throughout his life including his work at Gorlan Mechanical (Local 47) but what he would want known most was, “If home is truly where the heart is, his was at home in Danford”, which is where he is now. He was happiest when there, working on one of his many projects, knowing that Gayle was never far away. A born inventor with a mind for mechanics, he loved putting things together and was always keen to show both friends and strangers around the property, where all of his treasures were on display.
An important member of the community, Bill was always happy to lend a hand (or a tractor!) when help was needed by a neighbour or at a local event.
Bill’s family would like to invite family and friends to join in remembrance and celebration of his life at Bethany Hall, Danford Lake, Quebec on Sunday, February 19, 2017 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Sincere thanks and gratitude for the loving care provided by the staff of Wakefield Memorial Hospital. Donations to Bethany Hall or Alzheimer’s Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca) would be appreciated.
