I live in Michigan and remember Delbert when my father,Uncle and I would trout fish back in the 1960's in the Kazabauzua creek that flowed thru the Zacharias farm. We would always ask permission from Delbert of his wife before fishing. I remember seeing his young boys Dalis and Doug planting pine trees on the back on the tractor when they were kids. My Aunt and Uncle had a cottage on Hahn Lake and my cousin Barbara Duford still resides there in the summer. I was good friends with Gary Hahn and remember well his father Aaron and wife Mary. I caught a lot of brook trout standing on the large rock at Spruce Falls and the bridge near Percy's house. We also would fish at Arnie Bretzloff's when he would let us. I remember walking over over to Cobb's for a candy bar and we would often stop in for a beverage at the Silver Maple in Shawville and we would buy our eggs at Charlie King's farm. I have not been back to the Otterlake Area in over 45 years but the fond memories that I do have seem like only yesterday.
We were saddened to hear of Mr. Zacharias' passing upon our return from holidays...so sorry we were not able to attend his services. We fondly remember him as a kind, generous and proud man. Please accept our sincere sympathies.
