Obituary of Mona Gibson

Peacefully, while in hospital in Shawville, QC. Mona passed away leaving her husband of 62 years, John GRANT Gibson. She will be lovingly missed by her daughters Laurie Jo (Dixon Weir) and Wendy Jean (Bill Bennett and the late Dana Downey) and grandchildren Janis and Kiefer Weir, Joel and the late Andrew Downey. Mona, predeceased by her parents Gerald and Beulah (Barr) Horner grew up with a large Horner family that included Bill (June), Clarke (Barb), Lenora (Art), Wayne (Rosemary), Doug (Mary Marg), Jack (Bea), Dan (Gay), Jennifer (Tom) and Janey and many nieces and nephews. Also missed by Grant’s sister Sylvia and Ted Poulin and sons Doug (deceased) and Susan Smart, Randy (Sue McConnell) and their daughters Alyson, Jenna and Chloe. Mona worked for many years as a secretary in a number of firms and retired in 1993 from Agriculture Canada’s Plant Research Centre at the Central Experimental Farm following 25 years of service. Friends may call at W. J. Hayes & Sons Funeral Home, 134 Centre St, Shawville, Quebec on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. & Monday, January 28 from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Funeral to Shawville United Church for Service at 2 pm. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery. Donations to Shawville United Church or Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
