Obituary of Weldon Hobbs

It is with regret that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Weldon James Hobbs, on Monday, April 9, 2012 in hospital, Shawville, Quebec. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Meryl Barber. Cherished father of Joanne (John Nimchuk) and Marilyn (Lloyd McNally). He was the devoted brother of Ruth (Eason Russell). Nicholas, Johanna, Christina, Mike and Brittany will miss their grandfather; Alaya and Javan will miss the hugs and treats from great grandpa. He was the son of the late H. I. Hobbs and Gladys Findlay. Predeceased by his brothers Sterling (Marian) and Brent “Joe”(Mary). He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Amy Griffiths, Sue Russell, Lois (Bill Callaghan) and Isabel Elliott, as well as an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. W.J. or “Wimpy” will be remembered for his community spirit, his involvement in the Rotary Club and Shawville Fair, and his active participation in the United Church. Sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care and Long Term in Shawville hospital for their excellent care and compassion. Cremation. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2012 in Shawville United Church from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:30 p.m. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.
