Dear Mrs. Willis. Today I have been praising The Lord for various People of Influence in my life. You and Dr Willis are two of those people. I studied with Dr Willis as part of the Arctic Nurse clinical training program in 1974-75. As a new Christian you both influenced me by having me in your home for regular Sunday fellowship. Those days served to ground me for a lifetime of walking with Him. I praise The Lord to know that Dr Willis had such a long life. I'm confident he went on to influence many more lives for Jesus Christ in the years that followed my time with him. As for myself I contine to nurse in the north with our First Nations people. How they need The Lord. Blessings to you and your family. Beverley Robson, PhD, RN

Dear Ma'am Margaret & children,
We would like to express our deepest condolence for your loss which is also ours too. However, but we believe that we will soon meet in Heaven with him.
We just would like to share on how Dr Willis ministry has impacted our lives until now.
In early 1960s, I first met Dr Willis through a friend who brought me to a clinic which was also a Christian Book Room in Sandakan. I'm amazed on their generosity of providing medicine and check up for free of charge. Not only did they serve us as patients but with love and sincerity as brothers and sisters. I wanted to know why and how they could love us in such manner.
With a simple invitation, I've attended the Bible Study every Wednesday night and Sunday service at Dr Willis's father house at 0.5 mile in Sandakan. My wife and I accepted Jesus and were baptized on Dec 1960.
Since Dr Willis and family left to Canada,I have continued the journey of faith as government servant and serve the Lord faithfully wherever I've stationed. My wife has been spreading the Good News to everyone she met.
As for my wife, she was not able to read and write as she never got the chance to go to school. By God's grace,Ma'am Margaret taught her by coming every Thursday consistently and taught her through Bible Study. This is the reason she knew Jesus and accepted Him as her Savior.
Through 5 of our children,Amelia,Henrynus,Janey,Veronica and Roy, we are blessed with 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren.
Ma'am,I still remember that Dr Willis named my eldest daughter,Amelia as Mila because it was hard to call her by AMELIA. She loved it.
We hope, by our testimonial, your family will be blessed on how wonderful Dr Willis & family ministry. All these are possible because of God's grace.Praise His Name!

they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; indeed He has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:16.
Being welcomed and cared for by Dr. and Mrs Willis when we lived in Montreal in the 1970s will always make Canada a special country for us. Our lasting impression of Dr. Willis was of his exceptional faithfulness to God. Unusually for someone who worked so devotedly to extend Gods kingdom on earth, his Christian witness was graced by a lightness of touch. We appreciate how he gave us time and space to develop and deepen our journey in faith. Dr. Willis was authentically humble in a way that few of us are looking to the praise of God rather than the praise of humans. We recall with astonishment how he regularly drove to our apartment every Sunday afternoon to take us to Bible study in the lovely Willis home in Westmount. This was always followed by a sumptuous home-cooked dinner that Mrs. Margaret Willis prepared.
When we got married in Montreal in 1972, Dr. Willis read a passage from Ephesians at our wedding. In fact, he conveyed the bride (Oi Lian) to the church in Chinatown in his yellow Ford Pinto!
We are privileged and so blessed to count ourselves among Dr. Willis numerous alumni. Over the years, our links with the Willis family have included being with Jane and John, Chris and Grace in Singapore. Dr. Willis was truly a man of God. We give thanks and rejoice in the gift of his life and work.

I will always remember him for his kindness, integrity and medical brilliance. I had just come back from England and he was visiting Sabah in 1983. I invited him to my ward round in Sandakan and he shone like a beacon. More than that was his love for people and above all his Lord and Saviour. We met several times in the next few years. The last was when we had lunch together in KK in 1990. What glory awaits him! I shall miss him!

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Dr Willis and John and Jane Burke who have been my mentor as I grow in the Lord.
I, Mandy Wong, younger sister of Man Lai. Man Lai was a patient of Dr Willis in his Christian Book Room clinic cum Sunday school where she was introduced to Christianity. I recalled vaguely that I have been to the Sunday school but later continued Sunday school in Mr & Mrs Pang s flat when Dr Willis and family returned to Canada.
I am touched by the humility and humbleness of Dr Willis and Margaret who continued to visit Sandakan, Sabah on a yearly basis to reach out to the natives of Sabah Kadazan.
Later in 1980, I went over to Toronto to further my studies and I was put introduced to John & Jane Burke. Through the fellowship and home cooked meals with Burkes my faith in the Lord grew during my 4 years in Canada. Thank you Dr Willis for passing on the spiritual legacy to your children and thru the Burkes many Malaysians have come to know the Lord. Today all 11 of my family members have come to know the Lord. Some are actively serving the Lord in the local churches. You will be dearly missed but we have the Hope in Christ that we will meet again in heaven.

Dr Willis was a dear family friend and spiritual guide to the William family in Sandakan, North Borneo.(Now Sabah, Malaysia).
The influence Dr Willis and Margaret had over my late mother is documented in a book he wrote. I was very blessed to stay with the family when I visited Montreal in 1981. Their daughter showed me around the city and I enjoyed Margaret's legendary hospitality. I think you were all glad to meet me the youngest child of the William family who was called to serve God full time as pastor and to see the fruit from your labour. We have lost a general in God's army. I and my family extend our deepest condolences to the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank you Dr Willis for your wonderful work and legacy you left in Sandakan and Sabah. Your Christian Book Room, Medical practice, Church and Ministry commanded great respect in Sandakan.
The books that your family donated to St Michael's Library were instrumental in my inviting Jesus into my heart as a young girl. Being brought up in the good olde Anglican tradition, this was never taught in those days. I had to learn this by reading a christian fiction book!
Your explicit notes on minor surgery especially that of drainage of paronychia (infected toenails) given to me by Hope Hurlburt (not sure of spelling) of Wycliffe helped me when I was Staff nurse in charge of the Tongud Dispensary in Upper Kinabatangan in Sabah. People reading this now will wonder what the big deal was, but in the late 70s, the indigenous folks with no footwear, treading in river beds, wet and soggy ground and wet feet all day long found it very difficult to recover from paronychia.
The patient who recovered from surgery performed following your instructions to the letter was so grateful that he sold me the first bamboo floor mat ever to be sold to a 'foreigner' in Tongud. Other 'foreigners' in Tongud who had been there much longer than I had wanted to buy the valued bamboo mats but were not accorded this privilege!
Your life and service is a wonderful testimony to us all. Thank you from Sandakan and Sabah.

Greetings through the risen Lord Jesus to the family of Dr. Willis, especially Joan (my classmate in P5 & P6 St. Monica's School).
Please accept my heartfelt condolences (there is still a place for this though we know the Lord has taken Dr. Willis home and he is rejoicing with Him in heaven).
I am also the niece of Helen Lo, who is the mother of Koo Shun Kiaw (patient of Dr. Willis in 1960s).
My aunt did the address and phone number of John & Jane when they were in Singapore. At that time my 2 sons were young and being busy & not very organised, somehow by the time I tried to phone, they had returned to Canada. Years later I did try to ask for contact (email, if available) of Joan so as to get connected with the family again but that was not successful.
Dr. Willis did impact my young life deeply. This came through what my grandma told me and from your Sunday School sessions I attended for a period of time. I think Dr. Willis and my grandma impacted me in the same way - that of the life of God, godliness, love (although details are not remembered).
I hope I can get connected with the family again, especially Joan.
Sorry this is such a long message.
