Obituary of Rosemarie Fraser
Passed away peacefully in Renfrew Hospice, of cancer, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Forrest Fraser of Renfrew and daughter of the late Karl and Anna Meisel of Germany. Survived by sister Gerta (Jakob) and brother Edgar (late Emma), both of Germany. Rosemarie and Forrest were married at Zweibrucken, West Germany in 1958 while Forrest was serving with the RCAF at 3 Fighter Wing Zweibrucken as part of NATO’s first line of defense during the Cold War.
The Meisel family survived the bombing of their city which was 80 percent destroyed as the Americans dropped leaflets over the city to warn the residents that the bombing was coming soon. Rosemarie also survived a severe case of rheumatic fever in Belleville, Ontario and was hospitalized for 4 months in 1963 and 1964.
As a result of Forrest’s service with the RCAF, besides living in Germany and France, his employment with Motorola and their wandering ways after retirement, they also lived in Vancouver and Kelowna, B.C., Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, North Bay, Markham, Ottawa, Goderich, Belleville, Trenton, Elliott Lake, Pembroke, Arnprior and finally Renfrew, Ontario. They also spent two years at Churchill Falls, Labrador at the Hydro Electric Project.
We wish to thank Dr. Bruce Strader and the wonderful staff and volunteers of Renfrew Hospice. Donations to Renfrew Hospice would be appreciated. Private arrangements.
