Obituary of Aurel Vaillancourt

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Aurel (formerly of Desjardinsville, Quebec) on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Manoir Sacre Coeur, Fort-Coulonge, Quebec at the age of 85. Aurel leaves to mourn his wife, Lucille Chaput. Cherished “Ti-Pere” to his daughters Sue (Roy), Paulette (Mike Szabon), Liane (Pierre Ladouceur) and his son Denis (Louise Lafreniere). Cherished “pepere” to Tina, Chantal (James Morgan) & Danielle Pettigrew, Chad & Stephanie Ladouceur, Ryan, Marc & Eric Ladouceur, Sophie & Isabelle Vaillancourt. Great-grandfather to Brandon & Brayden Petiquan. Step-grandfather to Hailey & Alisha Szabon. Predeceased by parents Felix & Emilia Vaillancourt, brothers Maurice, Lennox & Edmond and sisters Gabrielle, Bernadette, Yolande, Antoinette, Rita & Camilla. He is survived by sister Marielle, many brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Aurel (Smokey) worked 42 years at Base Petawawa as well as many years as caretaker at Notre Dame du Lac Church in Desjardinsville and many years as a counsellor for Chapeau municipality. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 56 St. Jacques Street, Chapeau, Quebec on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Saturday, December19, 2015 from 9 to 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am in St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau, Quebec. In memory of Aurel, donations to St.Alphonsus Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
