Obituary of George Pirie

After a very short illness, George passed away peacefully in his 81st year, surrounded by compassion and love, in Prince Edward Island. Beloved husband and best friend of Winnifred Corrigan for 55 years. Son of the late Edwin and Sadie (Dunlop) Pirie. Loving father of Charles (Susan), Debbie (George Szymanski), Mary-Lynn (Richard Butler) and Nancy (Dan Egan). Fondly remembered by grandchildren Robert Szymanski (Robyn), Michael Szymanski (Rachel), Alexandra and Addison Butler, Willis, Dalton and Patricia Egan and great-grandchild Milah. Brother of Joy (late Dalton Hodgins) and Clayton Pirie and predeceased by Eleanor (late Allan Black), Bill (late Anne) and Beverley Pirie. Special brother-in-law of Grace (late Earl Angus), Donald (Marlene), Lawrence (Ester) and Norris Corrigan (Faye). Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 1 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and Sunday, August 9, from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Knox United Church, 70 Aylmer Road, Bristol, Quebec. Interment Norway Bay United Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Bristol Town Hall, 32 Aylmer Road, Bristol, Quebec.
