Obituary of Jill Heaphy (nee Burke)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jill Maude Agatha Burke Heaphy following a hard fought battle. Jill died peacefully at the age of 72, surrounded by family at the Hull Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit on August 9th, 2024. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 51 years, Charles Heaphy and her children Nancie (Nathan), Lynn (Ryan), Shelley (Curtis) and Erica (Craig). She was the loving “Mere” to Paige, Patrick, Lily, Grace, Holly, Nora, Evelyn, Lucas, Wade and Iris who adored and cherished every moment with her.
Jill was the daughter of the late John Burke and Rita Mousseau. She was the cherished sister of late Joanne Jansen (late Jack Jansen), late Elizabeth Normandeau (Oscar Normandeau), Donna Malloy (late Patrick Malloy), late Charlie Burke (Carmen Lafleur), Margaret Lunam (late John Lunam), John Burke (Shirley Crawford), Kathy Lefebvre (Andre Lefebvre), George Burke (Maryann Brine), Nancy Burke (Andy Weston) and Sue Dufour (Madge Dufour). Jill will be fondly remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
Jill was the glue that held our family together. She was our confidante, fiercely loyal to her entire family and all of her friends. She was always there to listen, answer questions, share favorite recipes, give advice and remind us of everything - she had the most incredible memory. We can’t begin to imagine life without her but we will continue to cherish all of our memories of her and will continue to live our lives implementing the values that she always instilled in us.
We wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the quick response of the Pontiac Hospital doctors (a special thank you to Dr. Ruth Vanderstelt & Dr. Freydoun Homayounfar) and nurses. We are forever grateful to the nurses, personal support workers, doctors and surgeons of the Intensive Care Unit at the Hull Hospital for their dedication to Jill during her 45 day stay.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2024 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec at 11 a.m. Interment parish cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to join us for a reception at the R.A. Hall.
