Obituary of Shirley Thomas (nee Woermke)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Joan Thomas (nee Woermke) of Bristol, Quebec on Wednesday, January 17^th 2024 at the age of 87.  Daughter of the late Arthur Woermke and Katie Schaven.  Loving wife of the late Gerald Thomas.  Mother of Brian (Karen Bertrand), mother and best friend of Debbie Henderson (Archie Greer).  Predeceased by her sons and guardian angels Earl Thomas (Colleen Breton) and Baby Dean. 

Cherished and adored Nanny of Roger Greer (Cathy), Natasha Henderson (Shawn), Jennifer Greer (Mitchell), Jaime Henderson, Shawn Henderson (Lindsay) and Samantha Henderson (Brennan).  Fun loving Great-Nanny of Cody Greer, Sydney and Cole Greer, Kierston Smith, Mackenzie, Brandon and Peyton Kelly, Madison, Ireland and Cole Mulrooney, Jaycie and Alex Henderson, Jaxson and Bexley Rathbone.  A very special Great-Great-Nanny of Coraline Greer.

Dear sister of the late Myrtle (Linden) Young, late Leslie Woermke, late Gordon Woermke, Olive (late Wilmar) Mallette, late Donald (Joan) Woermke, Allen (late Dorothy) Woermke.  Shirley will be missed by many her nieces, nephews, friends and especially her best friend Jean Burnett.

Shirley’s proudest accomplishments in life was to say she was 5^th generation head of the family.  You could often find her enjoying a game of cards or watching her favourite TV shows and birds outside her window.  Shirley had her regular daily chats on the phone.  The most cherished thing in life was the love and time spent with her family.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Bristol Presbyterian Church, Bristol, Quebec at 1 p.m.  Interment Norway Bay United Cemetery.
