Dear Aunt Edythe, Jaimie, Deanna, Tracy, and families,
I had a lot of memories and thoughts I wanted to share with you--too many for this space--so I opted to send them along separately from here. I do want to include here, though, a picture from the last time we saw him when you visited us down east this summer. He had just cracked a huge joke that broke us all into laughter. This was his expression just afterwads---quintessential Uncle Gerry. We will miss him a lot, and our love and prayers go out to all of you.
Catherine, Brian and family

Mrs. Perry, Jaimie, Deanna and family,
I was sorry to hear of Mr. Perry’s passing. As a Grade 7 student at BS Senior Elementary, he was kind and always had a joke to share. As a shy student, I could not understand how all of the ‘Quebec’ teachers seemed to know who I was. This resulted in lots of teasing and Mr. Perry led the way! I shrank in my seat but knew it was all in fun. Yes, Jaimie, true!
Hoping memories and faith sustain you during this difficult time. Lynn Denault

Another good man from the town of Waltham is gone! Gerry would go around and plow the driveways of widows in Waltham and didn't expect any reward. He was just a genuine, kind man and the town will miss him, even though he was so unassuming with a quiet presence—my condolences to his entire family who will feel his loss the most.

My deepest sympathies to Mrs Perry and your entire family. I have many fond memories of Mr Perry throughout my high school years at Bishop Smith, and then throughout my adulthood as we met up on various occasions.
He was an amazing teacher and gentleman, who could always make you laugh and genuinely cared for the students.
Rest in peace.

Sending heartfelt love to all of you: Aunt Edythe, Jamie, Deanna, Tracy, and your families. I am so sorry for your loss and pray that you are able to find strength in the love and support of those around you. I hope that the memories of moments shared with Uncle Gerry will bring a measure of comfort and solace. Even though I only had limited occasions to see you all, he never failed to make me laugh and had a sense of humour that made it seem like he was one of the Strang family. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the stories and memories that family and friends will continue to share. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Love Laura (Strang) Somerville

Rest in peace Uncle Gerry. I remember with fondness your quick wit and funny comments on my Facebook posts (and yummy maple syrup). You have joined a good number of fellow shit-disturbers in heaven (Dad, Uncle Paul, Uncle Frankie), and I’m sure Mom and many other relatives on the other side will welcome you with open arms. Much love to Aunt Edythe, Tracy, Deanna, Jamie and families. ❤️

I was saddened to learn of Joe's death. Joe was an excellent teacher and mentor and I was privileged to call Joe a colleague and good friend. I was fortunate to have Joe as both a math and religious education teacher in high school. I always struggled in Math and Joe was always a very welcoming, patient and accommodating teacher, especially with students who had various abilities and special needs. He loved to joke and tease students and never took himself or life too seriously. Faith and prayer were important to Joe and he shared his faith with his students and colleagues openly and daily. The Lord was always welcome in his classroom and in his home. I will always be very grateful to Joe for his support for me as a young teacher and for going out of his way to give me a strong recommendation to the admin. at Bishop Smith Catholic High School when I was applying for my first teaching positions. I offer my sincere sympathy to Edythe, Jaimie and Paula, Deanna, Tracy and grandchildren at this time. Please be assured of our prayers for the repose of his soul and for your consolation today and in the time ahead. Godspeed, Joe, as I am sure you are now hearing the well deserved words from our Lord, "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your master."
