Obituary of Marjorie Buckley (nee Hodgins)

Marjorie passed away peacefully at her residence at Southbridge Cornwall on October 31, 2023 at the age of 86. Born in Shawville, Quebec, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ethel and Herbert Hodgins, loving sister to Lois and predeceased by her brothers and sisters Kenneth, Winifred, Mervyn, Eveline and Marion. Marjorie was married to the late John Buckley for over 30 years and in retirement her beloved travel partner. Loving parents to Kelly Koreen King, predeceased by their daughter Christine Carla Scarbeau and Johnny Mervyn Buckley, grandmother to Kayla Kristina King (Corey Popp) and Koreena Ashlee King (Robert Hastings). Marjorie spent her career as a hairdresser. She owned and operated several hair salons in the downtown Ottawa area and later provided in-home services for seniors and group homes. She loved to travel and share her experiences from abroad from the Caribbean, Europe to Africa. She particularly loved St. Lucia and Morocco. A special “thank you” to Dr. Cook, the nurses and care workers at Southbridge for their kindness, care and compassion. Marjorie will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, friends and their families. She was known as the “Queen” of the Ottawa Mustang Club, as an honorary member and will be fondly remembered by many members from the events and cruises she went on with her daughter Kelly. Mom may you rest in peace. Family and friends may attend a memorial service to be held at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 1 p.m.  Interment to follow in Shawville Pentecostal Cemetery.  A reception will be held in the funeral home after the committal service.
