Obituary of Lindy Gilpin
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lindy on Sunday, September 17, 2023 in the Shawville hospital, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer, in his 90th year. Born in Bristol, Quebec, son of the late Irvin and Margaret Gilpin.
In 1956, Lindy asked his Sadie to be his lifelong partner and to take his hand. From that day on, they became one. They enjoyed 65 amazing years together. Built a home and dairy business while raising three children. Loving father of Bonnie (Chuck McColgan), Barry and Susie (John Kelly). Devoted grandfather to Wendy McColgan (Dan), Jack (Vanessa), Mackenzie (Stephen) and Shane (Alley). Great-grandfather to Brandon Roy and Bennett Kelly. He will watch over them from above while being reunited with his lifelong partner.
He is survived by his brother (Cyril (Brenda). Predeceased by Gilbert (Grace) and Mae (late Neldow Trudeau). Lindy was a loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. A chapel service will take place to celebrate the lives of Lindy and Sadie at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. O’Neil and the amazing palliative care team at Shawville Hospital. Donations to the Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation - Oncology Unit toward the purchase of a chair would be greatly appreciated.
