Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of Maggie. My Mom and Dad, Sandy and Sharon McDougall, had the pleasure of being Maggie’s neighbour for many years on Main Street. Each time we would come up to Shawville to visit our parents we were sure to include a trip to Shawville Shoes to say hello and purchase some of her quality inventory! She was especially fond of my Mom’s cat, Stedman, and would take care of Stedman when they went away for long trips. She would come over several times each day to feed and sit with Stedman. My Mom always loved having her as a neighbour.
We were often lucky recipients of Maggi’s cooking and baking endeavours.
She will be missed.

I still have shoes and a pair of boots from Maggie’s store! Met her through mutual friends who moved to Shawville who brought me to her shoe store. Thought Maggie a wonderfully classy lady, sorry to hear she had such a difficult time. My best wishes to her family and friends. Marjorie and I shared many adventures and much laughter from our trips to Hawaii to living in a very sparsely
furnished apartment in Vancouver!
Marjorie was accomplished in so many areas from cooking gourmet meals to playing the piano to ensuring that your feet would receive personalized care with her well chosen merchandise..

Dear Kathryn and all members of the Horner family:
Marjorie was a long time friend, turned mentor, and avid supporter of me when I joined the ranks of the Shawville business women. Without her, there would not have been a Boutique Gwendoline!!! In 2007, she urged me to speak to Gordie and Myrna, the former owners, despite my arguing that I knew nothing about retail, and the rest was history. Many times, I wanted to quit, but she was my backbone. She always ended each conversation with a little anecdote and a giggle. I will be forever grateful to her for the love and support that she always gave me. As you all will, I will miss her very much. But I will always remember her as my life long friend. I am happy that she is now free from pain and at peace. Love and prayers for you all.

Dear Kathryn,
I met Maggie through her shoe store. In the late 1980's and onward, my mother (Momsie) and I would go to Shawville to shop as we had a cottage near by, and we discovered that little heaven! We were part of the regulars, each summer we'd visit with Maggie and spend hours in her store, buying shoes, purses, wallets and even scarves and bags... As I was a teacher, I needed to buy new shoes every year. We hit it off very quickly and every year we went on a "pilgrimage" to Maggie's store. And so it became a tradition. My mother didn't go for the glamorous but for the sturdy and comfortable walking shoe... and I admit, with a bit of a flare and always good quality. All of which Maggie's shoes had. My mom had a small foot compared to me, which was and still is rather wide, extra wide and high in the instep! No matter what I always found the right shoe... shoes! The memories are many - good laugh, conversation, lunches at the Café. I miss you already Maggie, rest in peace, until we meet again, Love you. Lise
