Obituary of Robert "Bob" Charette
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Robert Joseph “Bob” Charette, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He leaves behind wonderful memories to his cherished wife Norma, daughter Leigh-Ann (Stephen), his granddaughters and pride and joy, Emma and Ava, brothers, sisters, extended family and friends.
Survived by his brothers Michel, Richard (Claire), Denis (Thelma), Andy (Mary), Jacques (Lucie) and sisters Pauline (Richard), Helen (Vern) and Lise (Alex).
Raised in Rockland and Ottawa, Ontario, Robert attended La Salle Academy prior to starting his 23 year career in the Federal Public Service. Moving to Ladysmith, Quebec, in 1983, Robert became the Director General for the Municipality of Thorne for 20 years, during which he co-founded the Ladysmith Volunteer Fire Department. His passion for his community inspired him to serve as a proud counsellor for several terms in his retirement, making him one of the longest serving counsellors of Thorne.
Robert will be remembered as someone who was hard-working, intelligent, thoughtful and supportive. He enjoyed music, reading, cooking and Turner Classic Movies.
His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and PSW’s of the Pontiac Community Hospital for their compassionate care of which he praised to everyone he spoke with.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 5th 2023 in St. Charles Borromeo Church in Otter Lake, Quebec at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
