Obituary of Gerd "Gerry" Dresselt

Gerd "Gerry" Ludwig Dresselt of Ladysmith, Quebec passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022 at the age of 80. 

Gerry was born in Jena, Germany on February 14, 1942 to father Otto and mother Elizabeth.  He was the middle child of three, preceded in Death by his sister, Barbara; Survived by his brother, Peter residing in Germany.  

Gerry immigrated to Canada in 1962 and found his way to Ladysmith in the late sixties.  Gerry ran his own electronics repair business in town and was happy to retire there afterwords.   Gerry loved watching sports, whether it was tennis, soccer, or even getting mad at his Toronto Maple Leafs for another disappointing season, he took it all in.  He particularly enjoyed watching his favorite hockey player, Cassidy playing live for the Lions in the Shawville arena.    

We would like to thank all the health care professionals at the CLSC who supported him over the past two years and helped him maintain his independence at his home.  Special thanks to Ellen Peck Beaudoin for always checking in on him and making sure he got a little laugh in.  We would also like to thank all the first responders who attended his house on the night of his passing.   

He leaves behind his long-time partner Marie Gauthier, two sons; Chris and Sebastian and two grandchildren; Chelsea and Cassidy. 

Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Schwartz, Quebec at 11 a.m.  Interment parish cemetery.
