Obituary of Clare Wiles (nee Tanguay)

Clare passed away peacefully in her home in Ottawa with family by her side on Saturday, September 24, 2022. She was just shy of her 94th birthday.  Clare was predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick in 2009. She was an ever-loving mother to Timothy (Claire), Thomas, and James (Linda), a beloved grandmother to Jonathan, Hannah, Kevin, and Thomas, and to great grandchildren Eloise, Lilia and Theodore. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Clare was born in Portage-du-Fort and she never forgot where her first home was.  To the end she was a wealth of information for many of us seeking information on places and people from years ago.  Clare was an avid gardener, and her garden was always spectacular to behold. She had a fondness for birds and happily enjoyed the many species that visited her backyard bird feeder daily.  Clare lived her faith and it carried her through the good times and the not so good times.  It never faltered.  She had a special devotion to St Therese of Lisieux, Padre Pio, St Anthony, and to Mother Catherine Aurelia.

Friends may call at the Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre St., Shawville, Quebec on Thursday, September 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday September 30, 2022 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2022 at St. James the Greater Church, Portage-du-Fort, Quebec at 2 p.m.  Interment parish cemetery.
