Obituary of Murray MacDonell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Murray Patrick MacDonell on Monday, August 29, 2022 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer at the age of 63.  Predeceased by his parents Frank MacDonell and Mora (Fraser) and brother-in-law Raymond Beaumont.  He leaves to mourn his loving family Verna Beaumont, Donna Loewen (John), Bernard (Mona), Ronald (Debbie), Sheldon and twin sister Marlene MacCuaig (Duncan).  Cherished by many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and wonderful neighbors and friends.

Murray was a dedicated 30 year City of Ottawa employee working as a Zamboni driver, ice and maintenance technician at Lansdowne, Brewer Park and McNab.  In Murray’s younger years he played hockey and broomball.  He never lost his love for hockey.  He was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s, always hoping this would be the year they would win the Stanley cup.  He was an avid outdoorsmen enjoying fishing and hunting, living on the shores of the Ottawa river.

Special Thank You to Dr. Ruth VanderStelth and the staff at the Shawville Hospital for the excellent Care they provided.  As per Murray’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private inurnment of cremated remains in the Kenyon cemetery, Dunvegan at a later date.  As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
