Whenever I would see Vladimir, I'd ask him how he was and his answer was invariably the same: "Oh, can't complain!" He was always positive and grateful, in a quiet and humble way. He was a gentleman of the truest order, always ready to help, to serve, to be of use. We were having some car trouble once; our engine could not start. We called the Mackenzie household and Vladimir happened to be around. He said he'd be right over and, in a matter of minutes, he'd dropped what he was doing and was at our home with a handy little device to jump-start our car (without cables!). He insisted it was a device worth getting and we went on to give it as a gift to all our loved ones that Christmas :) I believe he baled us out at least twice with that device! He was so kind and gracious. I will miss him dropping in to pick up the kids; seeing him working away on some project at home; quietly washing the dishes; waving as our vehicles pass along the road. He was such a treasure and we are so blessed to have known him. We are keeping him and all the family tucked very close into our daily prayers.
