Obituary of Martin Blaskie

Peacefully in hospital, Shawville, Quebec on September 29, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Beloved husband of Rita Pelletier for 61 years, and loving father of Linda (Robin Zacharias) and Jackie (predeceased). Dear brother of Paul, Lucy and Frank. Predeceased by John, Isidore, Joe, Katie (Kathleen), Theo and Peter. Martin will be missed by all including his nieces, nephews and many friends which he met working as a trucker and through playing cards in Otter Lake, Danford Lake & Bryson. He was known as a sweet and gentle man, had a sharp wit and was a great card player. He never admitted defeat, even with the challenges he faced in the last few months. He loved life, and lived it to the very end. A special thank-you to Dr. Lamarche and the nurses at the Pontiac Community Hospital for the outstanding care they provided. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life Mass will take place in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Otter Lake, Quebec on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow. Donations to Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
