Obituary of Stephen James McKnight

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen James McKnight of Quyon, Quebec on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the age of 73.  Son of the late Clarence McKnight and Doris McCrystal.   He leaves to mourn his wife Priscilla Derouin of 29 years.   Loving father to Darlene (Lyle Fraser), Colleen (Garrett Donovan) and the late Rob Morris.  Cherished grandfather to Meghan (Brandon MacKechnie), Henry and Eve Donovan and the late Rory Donovan and beloved great grandfather to Reese MacKechnie.

Dear brother to late Gary (Trudy), Mary Ellen (Robert Young), Joanne.  Steve was a very special uncle to Bill (Sharon), Beth (Marty), Jamie (Tracie), Penny (Martin) and Tyler Johnston.  Dear brother-in-law to Martina (Larry), Teresa (late Stuart Crooks), Norma (Brian), Lawrence (Joan), Bernard (Bernadette), and Paul (Danielle) as well as many nieces and nephews.  Steve is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. 

Steve “Hubcap” leaves behind so many wonderful friends who are filled with great memories of him.  Everybody that knew Steve can attest to his love for his family, his friends, his pets, trips to Florida, tractor pulls, the Quyon Legion, trips to Jim’s Lake with the boys, cutting the grass, trips to the Grey Cup, taking a Sunday drive and tinkering with anything that needed to be fixed.  Steve had a great wealth of knowledge and was a mentor to many people.  He was our gentle giant with a huge heart.

Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 1040 Clarendon Street, Quyon, Quebec on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm and from 6 to 8 pm.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Quyon, Quebec on Monday, December 13 at 11:00 am.  Interment will be held in the spring.  A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at the Quyon Legion following the funeral.
