Obituary of Ronald Wayne Telford
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Wayne Telford, in his 61st year, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Son of Betty Lepine Telford and the late Wayne Telford. He leaves to mourn his life partner of 27 years Valerie Mulligan, their children Kyle, Autum, Riddick, Rhuari and Emma-Leigh, as well as his mother Betty, his sisters Elaine and Debbie (Raymond Gauvreau), his brother-in-law Leo, his sister-in-law Jennifer and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and too many dear friends to count. He is predeceased by his brothers, Gerry, Karl and Blair.
Ronnie, or Gino as his friends knew him, was a dedicated son, partner, father and employee. He loved his family, and took great joy is spending time with family and friends. He was a great dad to his kids and the many, many foster kids that came through our home; they all called him “daddy” and were always excited to see him come home at the end of the day’s work. He instilled in his kids a sense of responsibility and work ethic. He demonstrated these characteristics in many ways, not the least of which was his 30+ years working for H. I. Hobbs and Sons, and then Millar Feed and Seed and finally for MacEwen Agricentre. He loved his work, his colleagues and especially his customers, most of whom became good friends.
He had many other interests: his chickens, his garden, fishing, playing darts, traveling, and of course his beloved Montreal Canadiens. He loved Shawville Fair, mostly because he would see old friends and have a chance to catch up on what had happened over the past year. Everywhere he went he gained new friends and enjoyed the experience of discovering new places, his favourite being Wales, where he will be missed by some of our best friends.
Ronnie was overwhelmed by the love and support over the last few months, from family, friends colleagues, and our wonderful neighbours. We were both so blessed to have these people in our lives, especially our families, Billy Telford, Richard Richardson, Katrina and Greg Elliott, our foster parent community and too many others to mention here. We know he will be missed by so many and that makes this time much easier for us. Thank you all. A private family funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 8 at 11 a.m. in Hayes Funeral Home. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.
