To Sue, Jane, and all the families:
Memories of Bob make think of the old saying; "listen long and speak short!" This was Bob. He inherited this "thurst for knowledge" from his ancestors and was a wealth of it. Bob's dedication to his "roots" , his Churches (Greermount and Radford), and his family will be forever lovingly be remembered! Bob quietly accepted his varied tasks without asking for help. As Bob's communities gradually try to pick up some of the jobs that he just "did" without fanfare; we begin to realise the "varryed" jobs that Bob quietly accomplished, that helped make our community the great place that it is! RIP Bob; "many jobs well done!"

My condolences to Sue, Jane and all Bob's family. Although I saw him only once recently at the reunion for our class of'71, it was a warm and friendly visit. Bob was kind and sensitive. His mother taught me French in grade 3. His grandmother, Hannah, and mine, Lena, were sisters.

Dear Jane & family,
Please accept my condolences on Bob’s passing. I have many memories of visits with Bob and your mom as well as Sue on one occasion. While Bob and I shared a passion for the Greermount area, these visits often involved a history lesson and I especially loved the stories of the 1930’s era as our families (my mom was a Smith) were close neighbours. I will treasure those memories always.

Dear Jane and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a man of integrity and honour. He loved the land and nature and had much to teach others. His garden at Salt Spring Farms (the old Hanna place) yielded the most abundant crop of summer savoury and he was so generous in handing out Mason pint bottles of his own dried rubbed savoury. I still have some and when I use it, I remember the hands that prepared it.

I offer my sincerest condolences to Jane, Patrick, and all of Bob’s family and friends. I worked with Bob for many years at the GSC - I started my first full time job under his tutelage. I was lucky enough to spend some days with him at the farm and up in the bush lots and will always cherish those memories. He certainly was a man of the earth. His good nature, patience, eye and mind for detail, and enthusiasm in sharing his love and knowledge of nature made one feel very at ease around him. Rest in peace Bob.
