Obituary of Nora Ann Smith (nee Conway)

In her 77th year after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Nora Smith of Chichester, Quebec, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 29th, 2021. Daughter of the late Leo and Marjorie Conway (nee Dillon). Dear wife of the late Lester Smith. Loving mother of Peter, Brian, Cheryl (Pat Trimm), Sandra (Tim Morris) and the late Patricia (Patsy) and infant children Mary Theresa and Michael. Loving and caring Granny of Deborah Lapointe, Allyson Gagnon, Greg and Alyssa Morris and Kendyl Smith. Great grandmother of Hope. Loving sister of Bob Conway (Mary), Pat Conway (Bev) and Leo Conway (Donna). Predeceased by her sisters Joan (Walter Mielke) and Rebecca Laflair (the late Leslie), her brothers Danny and Gerard and sister -in -law Denise Conway. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and special sister-in-law to Kempton Smith. Nora will be fondly remembered by her neighbours and special friends for her kind and thoughtful ways. She was an active volunteer in her parish and community. Nora had a passion for baking and happily spent many hours baking for the annual cookie drive, the Chapeau Regional Gallery fundraisers and any other community events that came her way. Nora was also a familiar smiling face readily lending a helping hand at the annual parish supper. A private family gathering will be held at the Hayes Funeral Home, Chapeau, Quebec on Friday, February 5th, 2021. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Alphonsus Church Chapeau, Quebec in the intimacy of the immediate family only. Interment Holy Spirit Mission Cemetery, Nichabau, Quebec. As Nora was very devout in her faith, donations to St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau, Quebec or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
