Obituary of Eleanor Black

Eleanor passed away peacefully with family by her side in hospital, Shawville, Quebec, on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her one true love, husband Allan Black in 2006, as well as son William (Irene) in 1998, and granddaughter Andrea. Eleanor is survived by her son Gordon and daughter-in-law Kathy, grandsons Douglas (Leslie-Ann), Robert (Sarah) and William Jr. (Maria). She is also survived by great grandchildren Hayley, Joshua, Morgan, Charlotte, Kelsey and great-great granddaughter Candece as well as extended family; Marie Jose and Diego. Eleanor also leaves to mourn brothers George (Winnifred) & Clayton and sister Joy (late Dalton Hodgins) as well as Aunt Elsie Gordon and uncle John Dunlop. Also predeceased by parents Edwin & Sadie (nee Dunlop) Pirie and brother William (late Anne). Eleanor will be missed by many nieces & nephews whom she adored. Eleanor’s many accomplishments include teaching, UCW member, the Eastern Star, Shawville Municipal Councilor, Veteran’s Memorial Park advocate and author of a book on the Shawville/Clarendon Fire Department. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. No visitation on Wednesday.
