With sincere condolenses and sympathy to Sophie, Shawn, grandchildren and family. We are so saddened to hear this news. Her remarkable character, no-nonsense attitude complemented by her heart of gold made her so endearing. During our years in the Pontiac she was a stalwart support and leaning post. She was one of our first contacts. Her comments toward people were kind, her work ethic superlative and insights astute and often dead on. Her steadfastness along with her many attributes and virtures is a wonderful legacy for the family
She was funny too. We were driving back from a clinic in Otter Lake and I hit a skunk (accidentally!). Alas, we were taking the round about way home to drop samples off at the hospital. What made this worse was, I have absolutely no sense of smell. So while I lightly down played the event, Yola, let me know what she thought. I have the greatest memories of that day and many more of her for all the wonderful things she did to make the office function so superbly. Would love to reminecse more!

Our sincere condolences to Sophie, Shawn, Emilie, Jade as well as to Yola's siblings Denise, Claire (Marcel) and John. Your Mom, Nanny, sister (Toots),Aunt Lolo will be missed but remembered fondly by one and all. Yola loved her family deeply and I am certain that each one of you has something special in your memory bank! I do, let me share.
Yola and are are 2 months apart, Yola was older, which I would remind her from time to time when she would tease me about an upcoming birthday! We were more than cousins, we were best friends growing up and remained so throughout our adult years. Many the days we would cross the farm fields between us to play house in her play house or up over the summer kitchen at my house. Another favorite spot was a small group of rocks with trees next to my house. We, along with Gail Kelly (a mutual friend), made a playhouse with different rooms using rocks to divide them. We had a great imagination to say the least! We would pack a lunch to take to our special rock spot and enjoy each other's company. Yola and I shared something very special, our love for cheese whiz and soda crackers, yummy!! Every summer when I was home we would get together and guess what was served up, you got it, cheese whiz and soda crackers! I was even gifted with a large jar to take back home to Bella Vista last year as I stated that the Canadian Cheese Whiz was far superior! Ah the memories, they will help all of us through the days ahead. Cherish all the memories and stories. I am certain you have many many fond and happy ones to share with one another.

3 years ago I got the pleasure to meet Yola at my Grandfather's funeral. I had the opportunity to sit Down with Yola to talk for 2 straight hours. We really hit off from the start. She sat and listened to my whole life story. At the end she sat in the chair across me and smiled with a humane sparkle in her eyes to say: "Aren't you a wonderful surprise". I remember how she made me feel that day!
To all her family and friends, I am so sorry you had to lose an earth angel. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Shawn, Sophie, extended family, granddaughters, John, Denise and Claire and famiies. My heart is broken for you all. Toune as we nicknamed her many moons ago was always ready for a good time. That smile and that laugh of hers was so contagious. We were on many committees together over the years and it was rare for her to say no. She loved her children and her granddaughters with all her being. She leaves a big void. We sang in choirs, at parties she loved the song House of the Rising Sun good harmonizer so heaven now has a new fresh voice to add to. We never saw too much of each other last couple of years but when we met we had a proper chat. Another big loss for our tiny town. She is with her Clifford ( Lucky) again. May all your happy memories sustain you through these dark times. With these trying times it is difficult to be there for people but know you are in our thoughts. God speed Yola.
