Clayton left behind a legacy of 25 grandchildren and Many great grandchildren. He especially loved the little ones and always had a candy dish ready for them. Clayton and Josie were very family oriented. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families and many friends. Clayton’s 5 siblings have predeceased him, Cora Wilson, Evelyn Sullivan, Margaret Last, Theresa Cotnam and Mel Cotnam. Clayton was predeceased by many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws from both Cotnam and Gray families. He is the last of both families leaving behind a very long legacy – the Last Man Standing. Clayton lived in St. Joseph’s, Quebec until 2005 when he and Josie moved to Supples Retirement Home in Pembroke where they had exceptional care. They made new friends quickly. He had a smile for all of the staff and a few words too. He was always teasing residents and was a champion at shuffleboard. His true competitive spirit came alive playing cards and he loved his night toddy of whiskey. Mom and dad loved to dance and many enjoyed watching them on the floor.
A graveside funeral was held on April 8th at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Thank you to all Supples Landing Retirement Home staff and all Personal Support Workers who provided such excellent loving care of dad while living there.
As an expression of sympathy, a charity of your choice would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.
