Obituary of Matthew Mercier

The family announces with profound sorrow, the passing of Matthew Mercier at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on June 29, 2014 at the age of 20. Matthew enjoyed life. He loved spending time with his family and friends and was very passionate about hunting and fishing. He will always be known as “The Friendly Giant”. He had a heart of gold and touched many lives with his beautiful smile. He will be sadly missed. Matthew is survived by his mother, Dale Mercier (Stephen Sallafranque, stepfather), father, Trevor Romain (Aileen Cotnom, stepmother), sister, Isabelle Sallafranque, stepsister, Jessica Lepine, stepbrother, Joey Lepine (Rebecca Kelly), Jeff Lepine, nieces Paisley and Kinsley, Grandparents, Patrick and Verna Mercier, Bobby and Viola Romain, Jerome and Francoise Sallafranque. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 56 St. Jacques St., Chapeau, Quebec on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 5 in St. Alphonsus Church, Chapeau at 11 a.m. Interment Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
