Obituary of Shirley Ann Hodgins (nee Nicholas)
Shirley Ann Hodgins left us peacefully on March 15, 2020 with her daughters Christine and Shannon Hodgins and grand-dog Toby by her side. Born in Shawville, Quebec on September 13, 1946. Daughter of the late Roland Nicholas and Elsie Cuthbertson. Survived by her granddaughter Ashley and sisters Margaret (Brent Howard), Marilyn (Doug Peppard), brother Elgin (Cindy Budias) and brother- in-law Waverley Moorhead. Predeceased by her sister Joy.
She will be missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends from various cities she lived over the years. She was an active member of her community and will be greatly missed by her friends at The Carleton Place Sunset Club.
She was a loving, kind and generous soul. She loved social outings and family gatherings. She loved a home cooked meal topped off by a piece of her delicious chocolate cake.
She fought a long battle against cancer right to the end. She was admitted to the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital on March 12, 2020. Where she received compassionate care by the healthcare professionals and was in a peaceful state with her girls and Toby not leaving her side for her last few days. Heaven has received another angel. A Private family service will be held. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Carleton Place and District Memorial Foundation.
