Obituary of Elwyn Jay

Peacefully in hospital, Shawville Quebec, on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the age of 91 years. Predeceased by his parents Alfred Jay and Bessie Elliott, and his only sister, Mary (2016). Elwyn devoted his life to the family farm, recognized as a high quality sheep breeder. A gentle man, of few words with an incredible mind of knowledge, nature being his favorite interest. He was a devoted friend to many and will be sadly missed. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Pontiac Community Hospital for the special care given during his stay in hospital, also to his caregivers that brought him comfort right until the end. Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at which time a Service will be held in the Chapel. Reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment in St. Andrew’s United Cemetery, Campbell’s Bay, Quebec, in the spring. Donations to the Friends of St. Joseph’s Manor or the St. Andrew’s United Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.
