I'm very sad to read of Evelyn's passing.
I first met her when we were both travelling in Scotland in the summer of 1969 and then travelled back to Dublin Ireland where we parted ways. Having exchanged addresses, she continued her vacation and I returned home to Cork, Ireland.
Since then, we corresponded regularly and spoke on the phone periodically. I also visited with her and her Mum Dorothy and stayed at Kavnook in its early days.
I'll remember Evelyn for her sense of humour, her great love for animals and her joy in nature.
Rest in peace Evelyn.

Evelyn was my second cousin who I fondly refered to as Aunt Evelyn. I have great memories of camp Kavnook, as a kid visiting Evelyn with my Mom and Sister and most recently with my Mom 3 years ago. Evelyn was a devoted animal lover with a heart of gold. Evelyn will be missed by our family and we will always remember her kindness to us and those priceless memories we spent at Kavnook.
We love you Evelyn, may you rest as peacefully as you lived.
Sincerely,
Liam, Lauren, Louie and our Mom Nancy Hawkins

I first met Evelyn when I appeared on her doorstep unannounced and approached her about camping at her beautiful private campground several years ago. She first hesitated since she had no idea who I was. We began talking over the telephone on several occasions and what started to be a trial base for two weeks of camping, became a Well Diane, how would you like to be a seasonal camper?
My husband and I left the campground a couple of years ago to buy land. However, we remained in touch with Evelyn. I will always remember her Oh, Hi Diane! at the beginning of each telephone conversation and her Bye Bye Diane! at the end. We've shared many beautiful moments together since the first day we met.
Evelyn was a true friend with a heart of gold. She was a strong, dedicated and amazing woman. I miss her and loving pooches Angie, Price and her sweet cats Panda and Daisy.
The moments we shared will forever be engraved in my heart. We miss you sweet Evelyn!
Until we meet again,
Diane xo

Our family’s most cherished summer memories took place at Kavnook Campground. This was largely due to Evelyn’s kind and loving heart. We enjoyed every minute at McKay Lake - fishing, swimming, campfires. Evelyn wanted families to have a fun, safe and affordable place to enjoy the outdoors and she definitely achieved her goal. We will miss your old time singing voice, hearty laugh and the peacefulness of being at the Lake. Jo-Anne, Randy, Owen and Graham Beattie

Evelyn and I met through a mutual friend and ‘as the crow flies’ we were almost neighbours. I will miss our chats in the grocery store. Soar high, Evelyn.
