I now have a personal regret - I never got to meet Shirley. Joy and I had spoken many times of a trip to Otter Lake and it just never happened. The big reason for wanting to go was to meet her mom and 'feel' the home Joy treasured so much. Our most caring wishes for the family.

My sincere condolences. I have so many happy memories of our time together.
I remember her staying at my family farm with our grandmother. We were very young having so much fun.But we got in trouble for climbing into the woodbox!
We skied together on the Polish Hills, went to school together in a one room school house and Shirley's mother was at one time my teacher. We learned to play the guitar together ( from Eaton's of course ). I remember her being so interested in life and very devoted to her family especially in tough times.
A big loss to us all.

Shirley, a name that will live with me for the rest of my life, neighbour of 50 years Shirley was the person you could go to for sound advice, weather it was how raising children to making a garden she was there with sound advice.
SHE gave up a lot of her dreams when she was a girl to help her dad to raise her siblings while her mom was sick. Then she got married a raise her own family while taking care of her mom for many years.
Shirley would of love to have being a nurse or a teacher, Shirley, if you can hear me, YOU WERE ALL THAT AND MORE, maybe not in the way that you wanted it, but God had other plans for you, what more important for you was to help out at home on the farm raising your siblings and then raise all those beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and what about your neighbours, your friends that you help out. You were needed there more than in a hospital as a nurse or at a school as a teacher.
Shirley I for myself thank you for being there, you came to my help in many ways. Every now and then a single flower would appear on my table in the patio (a daffodil, a wild rose or just plain whild flower with no name I always knew that it was you who put it there, the only words I could think about when that happen was I CARE and I'm here if you need me. I knew it was you for the flower kept showing up even after my hubby died, for you see my hubby would put a few flower in a vase for me on my kitchen table and When I would thank you all you did was smile.
Rest in Peace Shirley you are greatly missed already by all who got to know you.
