Obituary of Christopher Draper Young
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Christopher Draper Young on December 4th, 2018 in his 66th year.
Proud to have grown up and lived in the Pontiac, Chris was a pillar in the community. He spent over a decade as the General Manager of the Pontiac Jr. B hockey team, served two terms as a Member of Council for the Municipality of Bristol and was as a proud Member of the Quyon Lions Club for 34 years.
He had a character all of his own. His quick wit, charm, and great sense of humour will be deeply missed by many, especially around the ballpark, at the camp, and in ‘the shed.’ Known to be a huge animal lover, Chris was especially fond of horses and his precious ‘Granddogs.’
Chris will be lovingly remembered by his two sons Brian (Juniper) and Curtis (Andrea), by their mother Kathy, and his three granddaughters. Chris’s eyes lit up every time his beautiful granddaughters Quinn, Adalyne, and Kendall would come into a room – they were most certainly the apples of his eye.
He will be forever remembered by his siblings Bob (Maryellen), Clayton (JoAnne), Linda (Rolly), Hal (Muriel) and Doug (Kim) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Chris will be greatly missed by his nephew Adam, who he considered a son. He shared a special bond with his nephew Bill and niece Beth as well. He had a special place in his heart for his great-nieces Paige and Julia and great-nephews Dustin, Ethan, Cole and Cameron but of course loved each and every niece and nephew equally. Chris is predeceased by his parents Harper and Shirley Young as well as his brother Bruce.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, December 15th at the Quyon United Church, 1088 Rue de Clarendon at 11 am. The family will receive friends prior to the service between 9:30 am and 11 am and a reception in Chris’s honour following the service at the Royal Canadian Legion in Quyon, 26 Rue Saint John.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Quyon Sports and Recreation in Chris’s honour.
