Obituary of Sylvio Richard

The family of Sylvio Richard regret to announce his passing on December 7, 2018 at the age of 61 years.  Devoted and loving husband of Diane Telford for 41 years.  Together, Sylvio and Diane have 4 children, Andrea (Joshua Kluke), Keri-Ann (Darcy Burnett), Nathalie (Eddy Daoud) and Sébastien (Megan Tubman).  Cherished  père to three wonderful grandchildren, Blair, Zoé and Ethan.  Beloved son of Lilian Richard and the late Joseph Richard. Brother to Cecilia (Lambert Villeneuve), Diane (Gary Hahn), Shirley (Bruce Rebertz), Nancy (Maurice St-Aubin) and Susan (Marc Villeneuve).  Sylvio was the owner/operator of Magnalum, established in 1985. He was a welder/fabricator and he also worked in the bush as a logger. For the past 13 years, Sylvio taught the Welding Program at Pontiac High School which was intended to be a temporary job which turned into a second (or third) career.  Sylvio’s number one priority in life was his family. He loved spending time with them on his pontoon fishing, cooking in the kitchen around the island, barbequing in the garage (no one left hungry) and spending time at the camp.     Friends may call at Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  There will be no visitation on service day.  Funeral Friday, December 14 in Shawville United Church at 11 a.m.  Donations to Shawville United Church, the Ontario Rett Syndrome Association (ORSA, RETT.ca) in the name of his grand-daughter Zoé or the welding program at Pontiac High School in memory of Sylvio would be appreciated.
