Paul was a great member of the Civil War Round Table with his willingness to speak on any subject and his role as quiz-master with Confederate rewards. He will be missed.

Paul was a very intelligent character who always had a twinkle in his eye. He loved history and had a photographic memory. We traveled to Gettysburg, PA to tour the famous battle fields he loved to visit. He was a generous man but also could be stubborn. I loved visiting him in Norway Bay and riding in one of his vintage cars. He was kind and loved his family and dogs. He will be missed by his friends and family. Goodbye dear friend, rest in peace.

I joined the Ottawa Civil War Round Table, along with my husband, during the 2007-2008 season. Several years later, I became the Program Co-ordinator for the OCWRT. As I began to draw up the schedule each season, I knew I didn't have to worry about finding a speaker or an interesting topic for our lead-off month, September. That spot, or occasionally October, was reserved for Paul Hinch! I heard him give nine presentations over the years, including his final one on October 29, 2015 - "Gettysburg Interactive: A Chance to Second-Guess the Generals." Some months later, I did recognize his distinctive chortle while listening to a phone-in medical program as he explained a mix-up between an appointment he was supposed to have with a neurologist, not a urologist! Thanks to Dave Morgan, we received sporadic updates about Paul and were concerned to hear of his deteriorating health. We will remember him fondly.
