Grant was such a gentle soul to be around. I have fond memories of conversations with him in the Caldwell homestead while he so easily downed a large bag of potatoe chips every evening I was there. My deepest sympathies to all the family at this time.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of Grant's family at this time of loss. I'm at a loss for words. We pray that the peace of Holy Spirit would surround you as you try to cope and process this deep shock. How tragic.
Grant was much older than me, (I was the 5th daughter to Hugh and Norma) but our families were longtime friends and I remember that in any interchanges he had with me as a little kid, (usually while visiting the Perrys) or at a church event, I thought he was a "gentle giant" :) I remember him taking the time to ask me about my kittens on Mom and Dad's farm and showing sincere interest in my answers. To little ones who often feel invisible in the adult world, such things matter. Being "seen" or "acknowledged" is so integral. I'm sure I'm not the only one with such a story of Grant's gentleness.
My family and I are so sorry for your loss. We are still feeling the deep loss of my Dad (Hugh) in January 2017 and know too well that the pain of losing someone so close is indescribable.
I once asked Dad how he went on "living", being husband, father, provider in the midst of a tragic loss of a loved one that he faced in his own life. His words echoed in my head when I lost him in January 2017: "Well, you just HAVE to go on... For the living."
Tena, and all the Caldwell family, I pray you'll find the strength "to go on... For the living." May Holy Spirit guide and help you as you are there for Hannah and Caleb in this profound loss. May you find comfort in each other and in the knowledge that he is with our Saviour.
