Obituary of Edward Gordon (Ted) Duern

On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in Pontiac Hospital Long Term Care, Ted succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 78. Ted was the chosen son of the late Gordon and Dorothy Duern.

Left behind are the loves of his life, his wife Bonnie Quanbury, and their children Rachel Henwood (Kevin Mullins) and Eli Duern. Ted also leaves behind his sisters Linda (Wally Lake) and Pat (Tom White) as well as several nieces and nephews. Ted was a longtime friend of Bill.

A teacher, steel worker, financial advisor, volunteer, Ted was always a gentle man, even as his disease destroyed his ability to do things he loved to do – cook, tell stories and go for long walks in the countryside. And throughout it all, he never lost his sense of humour.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held in Shawville United Church on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Pontiac Community Hospital Foundation Long Term Care.
