Uncle Walter always will have a special place in my heart. He was kind and very generous. I will think of him always when I smell leather and hear the jingle of the hitches.

Our deepest sympathies to the Smith & Wickens families. I always remembered the Smith Harness Shop as it was located on King Street where our family home (Watson) was. Cherish the many memories to help you through this difficult time.

Paul, Terry, close friends and family. Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Walter. I can always remember arriving in Shawville as a child after the long ride from Granby and one of the first stops was always to go to Walter's and Helen's Harness Shop. Walter was always kind, cheerful and in good humour when I would meet with him. We are very sorry for your loss. We are also sorry that we could not make it up to Shawville this week to offer our sympathies in person. Best regards. Earl and Manon.

Terry, Paul and all those dear to Walter: Please accept our sincere sympathy! Walters determination to "do it right the first time" earned the reputation of an "Artist of Harness" known the world over! His artistry can be found in the top show rings throughout the Horse world! I consider it a privilege to have spent just a little time listening to and watching this Master of harness! May the great memories of Walter be ever with you!
